$6487.50 raised for FARA

FARA have banked $5487.50, plus there was the pledge by Top Dog for another $1000, which is just incredible.
It was just a real pleasure to be involved in your event, and the money raised is a substantial amount for so little effort on our behalf, but such a great effort by all of you. It is very rare that we receive this kind of support from those not personally affected in some way, so its very special to us.
So on behalf of Mike, FARA and FA sufferers and their families in Australia, we thankyou for providing these services for our clinic, so we can continue to offer this care to our patients at no cost to them.

Official Charity The V Australia 2009 Christmas TraveLeague charity is the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Association. Click on this link for more information: (FARA). More details will be added soon about the organisation tackling this rare neuromuscular degenerative condition. FA is a fatal, genetic, neurological, degenerative disease. Currently there is no cure. FA initially causes inco-ordination, slurred speech and difficulty walking, usually striking during the childhood and teen years. As it progresses, FA causes complete incapacitation, vision, hearing and speech failure, combined with severe heart disease, scoliosis and diabetes. In later stages, patients usually suffer from cardiac failure in their late thirties. Intellect remains unimpaired. As FA causes a greatly reduced life expectancy, it is a race against time for all FA sufferers and their families.
